The whole purpose of these articles – TGIM – Thank God It’s Monday – is to get both myself, and everyone reading pumped for the work week ahead.
I really don’t think a TGIM is necessary, considering it’s January 2nd, 2012.
I don’t know why it is – but the change of the year is always such a big thing which fuels peoples motivation. Mine included. It’s just such a “fresh” feeling – full of optimism, full of “I’m going to make this the best year ever”.
I’ve never really thought about it either. One of my business partners has been spending the last week going on about how great 2012 was going to be, but I was very low-key over it all, not really paying it much attention.
Yet for the past two days, I’ve got up at 5:30am, absolutely PUMPED to work. I compare it to December, where I could write all the work I did on a cocktail napkin. It’s like you’ve been given the gift of time – a whole year full of optimism and possibilities.
If you’re not on board – if you’re not feeling the “awesomeness” of a whole new year ahead – then I can’t really explain it to you. All I can suggest is you may be in the wrong line of work.
It’s TGIM, it’s Monday, it’s the beginning of a New Year.
Let’s rock!
